Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How does time lapse work?
A. Time lapse happens when images captured at pre-determined intervals at a slow frame rate are replayed in normal speed to create a short, fast video of your project. This historical documentation is great for project management.

Q. Will the time lapse camera also serve as a security camera?
A. Yes, however, additional equipment will need to be purchased to enable video feed to be compatible with eCam’s UL Listed Central Station. Also, intrusion detection equipment will need to be purchased as well, such as passive infrared motion detectors or video analytics, in order to provide a complete security system.

Q. How is the information stored?
A. Data is stored off site. Images can be accessed via our eCamSecure Project Manager software.

Q. What if I need a contract less than two (2) years, such as one (1) year or even 6 months?
A. A two year contract is mandatory for the free camera offer. No refund will be given for the free camera promo. However, if clients decide they need service for less time, such as 6 months, they will receive a credit for the remainder balance to be used at any time. Month to month can be offered if Camera is purchase at full price with a month-to-month archiving and software license.

Q. How many pictures per day does the system take and how much would it cost for additional pictures?
A. We can take a snapshot every 15 minutes twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Shorter intervals are available at an additional fee.

Q. If I need a hard copy disc every month is that available? If so, how much will it cost?
A. Yes. It will be an additional fee for a monthly DVD. Images can be downloaded for free from the project management software. All images will be sent to the client as a HD quality time-lapse video at the close of the project.

Q. Can I change the time my pictures are taken done from a remote computer?
A. The client does not have access to change the time themselves, you must call your sales representative to make that adjustment. We do have the capability to change the duration of the time-lapse remotely without visiting the site.

Q. What do I have to provide at my site for the installer to set up the web cam; such as power, trenching, etc…?
A. 120 VAC, Internet Broadband Connection with static IP address, a pole or wall to mount the camera all need to be provided. If the camera location is away from power and broadband internet source, a chase or pathway needs to be provided to pull data cable as well.
